About Barre Heritage Festival
The 2011 festival is going to be a fantastic event! We are setting out to combine the “heritage” and “homecoming” aspects and activities into one cohesive festival. With the downtown reconstruction right around the corner, now it is more important than ever to show our neighbors, friends, current and future customers that Barre is here now and we will all still be here after the reconstruction. This is a perfect opportunity for you to get involved; to show that you are open for business, connected with our heritage, and that Barre is still a great place to live, work and play.
The 2011 Barre Heritage Festival and Homecoming Days is the perfect time to showcase the best of Barre – our heritage, our businesses, merchants and retailers, our local non-profits and service groups, and the great sense of community that can be found nowhere else but here. This includes you! This festival is a celebration, and we have a lot to celebrate!
This year’s festival theme is “Dig It!” – a true motto for our current times. This year’s festival will provide us with a great opportunity to educate the public on the upcoming construction, especially the major digging that will happen in 2012. There are some incredibly exciting features this year that you will enjoy – amazing bands (including Native Tongue and Starline Rhythm Boys), an epic parade, as well as exhibits and workshops to highlight our unique ethnic heritage and granite background.
We are budgeting $25,000-$30,000 for the five day event, including the popular fireworks display. The festival relies heavily on support from individuals and businesses like yours. A small percentage is supported from Barre City and Barre Town, and some fees are raised from vendors. On behalf of the Barre Heritage Festival and Homecoming Days, I encourage you to support this unique event and all it has to offer our great city.
